HI Mary,
  I have no first hand knowledge on this, but I just attended a Kiwanis
meeting where a representative from CUB (Citizens Utility Board)talked about
this, and she did not speak well of the alternative energy suppliers. She
suggested that most people do not save any money, and that there were
pentalties for many programs if you withdrew early. She said that they would
help people compare bills and plans. Here is their website:

I am getting bombarded with calls and mailings from alternate energy
suppliers. I'm wondering if any of you have made the decision to switch to
another company besides NiCor and ComEd. If you have, please let me know who
you selected and if you're seeing the savings you expected to.
