An enhanced 505 has a second indicator of 0 and there are subfields g,t,
and r. (g is misc. information, usually used for volume/chapter numbers
and other informatin that you don't want indexed; t is for the title;
and r is for the statement of responsibility)

Example of enhanced: 505 00 |gv. 1.|tQueen of the world --|gv. 2.|tOur
hero! --|gv. 3.|tBeach babe --|gv. 4.|tRock star --|gv. 5.|tHeartbreaker
--|gv. 6.|tCamp Babymouse -

Example of unenhanced (or basic): 505 0_ Why run? : Why 3 months? : Why
a 5K? -- What to wear -- Where and when to run -- What to eat -- How to
run -- How to stretch -- Avoiding injury -- The program -- The survivor
schedule -- 34-minute time-goal schedule -- 32-minute time-goal schedule
-- 30-minute time-goal schedule -- 28-minute time-goal schedule -- The
race -- What next?

Hey Lynn,

Would the 505s look any different if they were enhanced? My question is
whether there would be something in the construction of an enhanced 505
that the software would be able to pick up?

Thanks,

These are comments of Lynn Gates:

I don't think you want to remove the 505. For some series (particularly
some of our graphic novels such as Baby mouse) where we want to use one
record for the whole series the title for each individual book is in the
505 and that would be the only way to find if we own that particular
title.

Another thought, if searching all of the 505s is too much, could it
search just the enhanced 505s, and then have all tech services people
only enhance the 505 when using it for separate titles in a series on a
multi-volume record?

Hi all,

There was a recent discussion about getting good phrase results for
simple phrases. One that was mentioned was "high church." The results
for a keyword and title search were identical. Out of a long list of
results, only two contained the phrase "high church" in any obvious
manner.

Sirsi explained to PALS that our system is currently configured so that
a Keyword Title seach will search the following fields:

130
240
245
246
440
505
730
740

One suggestion was made to remove 505 from the general keyword and title
search, and perhaps add "Table of Contents" to the "Search Resource"
menu as an advanced search option.

Any thoughts on the matter?

Thanks,

Culley
